penguin funniness

My guess is they're funny because they're bottom-heavy.

But seriously one of the cool things that I saw when watching them is
that they can move from lying on their bellies to standing up with
virtually no effort or push from their wings (flippers). They just
sort of lean back and boom they're standing...

  1. Making me laugh just thinking about it.

I would also posit that some of their inherent funniness comes from their wings/arms. And their short little legs. Something about the waddling combined with the flappy arm thing is just a crack-up.

  2. I read a couple of great penguin books. One was "Waiting to Fly" where he described the various personalities attributed to the various species. Bottom heavy, like weebles - that wobble?
